Ofsted

All staff are checked by Ofsted for their suitability to work with children and have paediatric first aid qualifications along with regular updated safeguarding training and other mandatory training.

All staff have a minimum level 3 qualification, our three Registered Childminders each have BA (Hons) Degrees in Early Years studies, Julie is a qualified Early Years Teacher and currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Early Years Studies. Additionally, we are regularly involved in continuous professional development through internal and external training opportunities. This enables us to continually reflect upon our practices and develop our ways of working with the children.

Julie Denton – Registered Childminder

Worked for many years as a mental health nurse specialising in working with those with substance and homelessness concerns. She is the mum of two now older children and became a childminder 15 years ago after the birth of her second child.

She has an enduring interest in emotional wellbeing, believes deeply in the importance of working in partnership with parents and loves being in the woods with the children.

Fran Denton – Registered Childminder

Fran’s career in early years has led her to working in a variety of settings. She started working in this childminding setting whilst still at school and extended her experience in early years whilst working in a local primary school and outdoor nursery. Fran has built her skills and knowledge whilst achieving her degree in early years studies. This included some research and case studies based within the setting, and enabled us to reflect and develop our services based upon deeply thoughtful processes.  She is keen to bring creative ideas into the setting, supporting children to achieve the best they can whilst following their interests and having lots of fun.

Becky Lawson – Registered Childminder

Becky has spent her career working in the early years sector, with experience in a number of local nurseries, big and small. She is a mum of two young children who both attend the childminding setting and are busy becoming or preparing to become curious primary school pupils.

She has a vast amount of experience of working with children and families experiencing a variety of personal circumstances and is passionate about supporting children to build emotional intelligence and resilience. She has a particular interest in supporting the youngest of children through provision of home from home nurturing relationships and environments.

Sandra Milner – Registered Childminding Assistant

Sandra has been working with early years children since 1995 both in large nurseries and smaller home-based settings, balancing the role of practitioner alongside being part of the management team.

She is a mum, step-mum and grandma, not to mention great grandma! And loves it all.

Sandra has an enormous capacity for imaginative play and is great at extending the learning opportunities of role play and other pretend games. She is a great big bad wolf!

Team Ratios

At Julie’s house we believe that responsive adults are critical to provide the very best for young children.

We base our staffing on three members of staff daily, providing an adult:child ratio of 1:2 or 1:3, which is exceptionally high and enables us to provide our bespoke professional service to all children and families.
