Partnership with Parents

We strive to form and sustain strong genuine partnerships with families.

We believe that working together ensures the best outcomes for the child.

Key Person Ethos

We know that children flourish when they feel safe, secure and loved, and that this is strongly influenced by the relationship which is built between parents/carers and practitioners. We value the relationships we build with families and the partnership this creates which ensures that each child receives the best possible care and early years’ experience.

Within our intimate setting Parents have the opportunity to get to know and build good relationships with all members of staff, however the underlying basis of our partnership approach is based upon our Key Person system. Each child has identified members of staff who are responsible for thinking deeply about them. These special people ensure that each child’s emotional and developmental needs are consistently being met.

“The childminder is exemplary in her practice of working with parents and other professionals. This helps to provide excellent continuity for children’s well-being and learning. Parents comment on the bespoke service their children receive.”

Our Partnership Approach

Our partnership approach works well because we actively communicate and build strong links with families. We create regular opportunities to discuss and share information – at drop off/pick up time or during visits to the setting. We talk by phone, we visit families at home and we have a secure on-line platform on which we feedback the child’s day, learning and photos. We welcome any opportunity to build this relationship and reciprocal exchange of information.

Parents and key person meet together to conduct thoughtful reviews which give a snapshot of the child, both at home and in the setting. This supports us to build a deep understanding of the child’s interests, and enables us to provide a rich, bespoke learning experience.

New starters and settling-in

We recognise that the transition to a new setting is a challenging time for a child of any age and we have lots of experience and ideas around how to support children and their families with the transition. Each child is unique, and we are keen to tailor what we offer to meet your individual needs. We have options such as visits to the setting, home visits, walks and meet up in a public place, sharing video of the staff for you to watch at home, photo books etc– we will tailor the settling in plan to meet your child’s and family’s needs. Talk to us about the range of ways we suggest, ensuring that your child has a smooth, happy and enjoyable start with us.

"Julie and her team were wonderfully flexible and supportive during the settling in process for our son. The whole process was gentle and gradual, felt very natural and organic, was respectful of our son and his needs and was understanding of us as parents (particularly me - the concerned mother!). The result; a settled little boy who is happy to be dropped off in the morning and in no rush to leave when we collect him. I am one happy mummy!"
